2010 Torch Lake Cabin Addition
April 24th, 2010
For about the last four months, Log N Iron has been working on a cabin addition project for a family vacation home near the beautiful, and famous, Torch Lake of Antrim County (Torch Lake is known for being one of the cleanest and most beautiful lakes in the world). The property backs up to 500 acres of wooded state land full of clear flowing rivers and lots of wildlife -it is truly the epitome of untouched beauty.
Like many of our clients, we have been blessed once again with a great family who we really enjoy working with. For their addition, they wanted to create an open and welcoming floor plan that they could enjoy as a recreation room. The design incorporates 10” full-round log walls with our seamless and durable Swedish cope, as well as loft space and vaulted ceilings, which defines functional spaces while maintaining the open “great room” feel. Furthermore, you can see that we incorporated our patented Log N Iron adjustable floor joists, as well as our post brackets, which are a really nice touch that adds character to the room.
The family has been extremely pleased with the work that has been done, and even the building inspector said that,
“These are the best damn logs I have ever seen!” We were extremely flattered, and even chuckled a bit at his enthusiasm. Moreover, the building inspector was equally surprised by the degree of quality and strength in our Log N Iron tenoned log railings. We couldn’t be happier with the way this build has progressed and can’t wait to show you the finished product (we still need to complete some finish work and match the exterior finish). Stay tuned for photos of the finished and landscaped addition coming soon!
