Midwest Log Home Shows

Midwest Log Home Shows

April 24th, 2010

Over this past winter season, my father and I began looking for ways to actively showcase and promote Log N Iron Log Home products.  We were already aware of a variety of log and timber home shows that took place in big cities throughout the country, and were happy to find two shows happening very close to the areas we regularly service.

The first show we went to was the Great Lakes Log Home Show at the Birch Run Expo Center, not even 10 miles from our shop!  At first, my dad and I were a little unsure of the investment in time and money we were about to make, and if there would even be that many people still interested in purchasing log home products (given the current state of the economy), but we were happily surprised to say the least.  We came in and actually built our display the day before the event, which (like most of the products we sell) went up very quickly and easily.  The gazebo-esk structure featured all of our “zero tolerance” joinery capabilities, as well as Log N Iron full-log Swedish cope wall, purlin-tied trusses, ½ log siding, and more.  People were stopping by the display all day and commenting on how beautiful the logs were, as well as how impressed they were with the fit and finish of everything.  The show was going really well, and we met a lot of great people who called us after the show and wanted to talk more about all the great log home products we have to offer.

Another show where we promoted Log N Iron Log Home products was the Outdoor Sports, Lake, and Cabin Show in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  While this particular show was a little bit farther than the Log Home show in Birch Run, we were eager to see how we would fare, given the success we experienced at our first show.  Once again, we were presently surprised at all the great feedback and interest we received.  In fact, I even made it into the local paper, the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette.  This time was a little different because we actually co-promoted with a dealer company that sells our products.  We had a lot of fun, and as with the Great Lakes Log Home Show, met a lot of great people.  We can’t wait to do it again next year.
